Vale Tony Hoffman
It is with immense sadness that we share the news that Tony Hoffman passed away on Thursday 9th March as a result of complications following surgery.
Tony’s public practice accounting career began in 1995 and he quickly progressed to become a partner in 1998. Tony, along with Sue Lajoie and Troy Kelly, was a driving force behind the growth of the practice for many years. In 2007, following Sue’s retirement, the practice name was changed to Hoffman Kelly. During this time the practice has grown from just 5 to 45 staff and from 2 to 5 directors.
Tony was at the forefront in providing leading edge structuring advice in taxation, superannuation and asset protection. He had a particular speciality in property development and in recent years has been a regular speaker at various property seminars. Tony was Chair of the Queensland Public Practice Committee and also the Queensland representative on the National Public Practice Advisory Committee for Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He was also a member of the Queensland Education Committee for the Tax Institute.
Tony was revered among his peers for his expert knowledge, ability to find practical solutions for clients, his friendly demeanour and extraordinary work ethic. Among clients he was applauded for going above and beyond time and again to achieve exceptional outcomes. Tony was committed to educating clients, ensuring that solutions were tailored to client’s needs and being at the leading edge of structuring, tax and asset protection advice.
Tony will be greatly missed here at Hoffman Kelly. The practice has long held core values which will continue to drive us forward. The remaining 4 directors together have over 50 years’ experience at Hoffman Kelly and have stepped in to assume his duties. As a practice, we will continue to service our clients with Tony’s commitment to service, practicality, cutting-edge knowledge and positivity as guiding lights.
