Michael is an Accountant at Hoffman Kelly and has worked here for two and a half years. We asked him to tell us in his own words what a few of his favourite things are, past experiences and what life is like at Hoffman Kelly.
How long have you worked at Hoffman Kelly and what brought you to that position?
I’ve been with HK for 2.5 years and was previously working for a large accounting firm in Dalby (3hours west). We moved to Brisbane to be closer to my wife’s family and HK was attractive to me because of their focus on the client in everything that we do. Also, their professionalism, staff development and work/life balance were other key considerations.
If you could invite three people for dinner, dead or alive, who would they be and why?
My paternal grandfather because I never got a chance to meet him and it would be interesting to hear his stories and where he’s from. Also, Warren Buffet and Jamie Whincup because they’re the top performers in their chosen fields (and I’m sure they would have a few interesting stories to tell).
What’s the best advice you have been given?
Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity
What hobbies/interests do you have outside of work?
My three young children take up any spare time that I used to have but I do enjoy gardening. I had quite a large rose garden when we lived in Dalby. I also enjoy watching the NRL – especially when the Broncos are playing.

What do you love about your job?
I enjoy the staff and clients that I work with. I enjoy thinking about all the different considerations we have to take into account so that we can determine how we can most effectively help a client and then exceed their expectations. I also enjoy seeing business grow and flourish and being on that journey with the owners is a rewarding experience.
Something you might not know about me is that……
I am the oldest of 6 children – four brothers and one sister.

Ryan Gosling – who wouldn’t want to be rich and famous?!
