5 Minutes With… Andrew Laing

What is your role at Hoffman Kelly, and how long have you been a part of the team?

I’m a Manager in Team A and have been with Hoffman Kelly for about 2.5 years.  I tend to gravitate towards complex challenges and clients with big ambitions.  I particularly enjoy workshopping with entrepreneurs on ways to grow, pivot and launch something unconventional.

If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Constantine

Who is your childhood inspiration?  

Steve Irwin – he was such a passionate person and really cared about animals.

What song never fails to make you sing your heart out in the car?

Don’t stop me now by Queen

What is your favourite part of your job?

Being the person a client calls first. I love being trusted as a sounding board when they’re facing big decisions, big risks, or big dreams. 

Who is your favourite author/book?

The Animorphs series is my comfort read.

What did you want to be when you were 6?

My parents always joked I’d be a lawyer because I was so argumentative.

What’s been your best memory at HK?

I have been fortunate to have been involved in some really exciting things at HK, but the highlight is getting a phone call from a client that the grand plan he told me in our first meeting had become a reality

Eddie Hall: just to see how deadlifting 500kg feels

Do you have a hidden talent?

Making up parody lyrics to songs, to the delight and despair of my children.
