What is your role at Hoffman Kelly, and how long have you been a part of the team?
Accountant – I have worked at Hoffman Kelly for 18 months now but have been an accountant for 13 years. I’m originally from the UK, and before moving to Brisbane and starting at Hoffman Kelly I’ve worked in a international Law Firm specialising in litigation, as a specialist non-profit auditor for the #1 non-profit audit team in the UK, and in Commercial Real Estate for two years in Sydney.
If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Indiana Jones – The Last Crusade
Who is your childhood inspiration?
I’m probably supposed to pick somebody famous but honestly, my Dad – the hardest worker I know and to this day he has never complained when life wasn’t necessarily going to plan
What song never fails to make you sing your heart out in the car?
Fall Out Boy if my wife is in the car, if its just me I’m probably listening to a comedy show instead of music.
What is your favourite part of your job?
Watching a client grow a business from something small to something that provides them financial security, and hoping that somehow I was a small part in making that happen
Who is your favourite author/book?
Jesse Itzler wrote a book called “Living with a S.E.A.L.” where he talks about the time he asked a Navy SEAL to live with him for 31 days, tailing him 24 hours a day
What did you want to be when you were 6?
Either an archaeologist (until I realised that not all archaeologists work days look like Indiana Jones), or a professional wrestler.
What’s been your best memory at HK?
My best memory at Hoffman Kelly would have to be my first team building day. At that point, I had only been with the firm for a few weeks, so it was really my first opportunity to observe how everyone interacted in a social setting. It was great to see people from all different levels getting along and socialising naturally. That experience made it clear to me that Hoffman Kelly was a place where I would genuinely enjoy working.
Freaky Friday: If you could switch bodies for a week with anyone in the world, who would it be?
Gordon Ramsey – I’m probably the worst cook in the world, it would be nice for a change to cook something that’s more than just “ok”
Do you have a hidden talent?
I know too many useless facts about too many different species of animals, more than anyone should know or would ever need.
