Amelia McMullan started her journey as an accountant with Hoffman Kelly nearly 7 years ago and has worked her way up the ladder, having been promoted to a manager in 2021. We sat down with Amelia to learn a little more about her outside of her role at HK.

If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I really don’t have just one! The only movie that I’ve ever gone out of my way to buy was “Bring It On” – the Kirsten Dunst one. Otherwise, I also really love “The Words” with Bradley Cooper and Olivia Wilde.

Who is your inspiration?

It’s cliché but my mum. She’s an incredibly strong woman and raised three daughters (and one husband!). I admire her approach to life, how fiercely she’ll fight for the people she loves and I really admire her ‘take-no-crap’ attitude. My mum gives the best advice, including telling me to “suck it up” when it’s warranted.

What song never fails to make you sing your heart out in the car?

“Lighthouse” by The Waifs (Listen here)

What is your favourite part of the job?

Helping and working with clients who are new business owners. Seeing their dream businesses grow from the start-up phase to a fully-fledged business operation is so exciting.

Who is your favourite author/what is your favourite book?

My favourite book of all time is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, but my favourite author is Rebecca James.

What did you want to be when you were 6?

A doctor.

What’s been your best memory at HK?

The team-building days are always good fun. The 2019 Survivor Challenge was particular fun – we won overall too, so that helps!

Freaky Friday: If you could switch bodies for a week with anyone in the world, who would it be?

Someone on an all-expenses paid holiday in the Maldives!

Do you have a hidden talent?

I’m a bit out of practice now but I was alright on the piano when I was in high school.
