Meet Michael — one of our Senior Accountants at Hoffman Kelly. We took the opportunity to sit down with Michael to learn about his interests outside of the office.

If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the ring. Childhood favourite, with an engaging story of adventure and fantasy I could (and have) watch it many times.

Who is your inspiration?

I recall having to answer this question back in Year 8, and much to the disappointment my teacher at the time, I don’t really have an inspiration. I see examples of people that I want to be like and just do my own thing.

What song never fails to make you sing your heart out in the car?

Uptown Girl – Billy Joel. Odd one for me as my music taste has changed drastically, but this was a song that I would belt out with my sisters on the Singstar 80s and I’ve remembered all the lyrics (prompted with music) and have a fun time singing every time.

What is your favourite part of your job?

The people. The colleagues and the clients. It’s fun hanging together, and it’s great helping good clients.

Who is your favourite author/book?

I don’t read much, but if pressed I do really enjoy the A Song of Ice and Fire Series (Game of Thrones) by George R. R. Martin.

What did you want to be when you were 6?

I wanted to be a pilot. I never went ahead with it as I felt my eyesight would’ve ruled me out. Never followed that up, a shame!

What’s been your best memory at HK?

Melbourne Cup day was pretty fun, getting a couple of wins in the draw and on the pokies with Eric haha.

Freaky Friday: If you could switch bodies for a week with anyone in the world, who would it be?

There’s nobody in particular that I’d like to do this with. I can think of situations that I’d love to try out for a week, but then I think of the comedown after “switching” back and the knowledge of how things are for those and it’d be tough mental situation to work through!

Maybe, someone in a similar situation to me but in Asia, Africa or South America so I can experience the cultural differences.

Do you have a hidden talent?

If I told/showed you it wouldn’t be hidden! That’s the best answer for when you have no hidden talent, right?
